The crankshaft sensor or crankshaft position sensor, determines the position or the revolutions per minute (RPM) ? also known as the rotational speed, of the crankshaft. A crankshaft sensor is located close to the flywheel in the bottom block of your car's engine. The sensor consists of a coil and a magnet.
