Heater
The heater of the car is not only very important for comfort during the cold days, but is
also important for safety. The heater ensures a pleasant temperature in the
car, but also ensures that fogged windows are quickly resolved. It is therefore
important that the heater is properly maintained, especially in a humid
climate.
Do you
notice that the heater of the car is no longer working properly? Then this can
also affect the cooling system of the car. Cooling system components such as
the thermostat , radiator and coolant are connected to the heater. When these
systems no longer work properly, this can also cause the engine to overheat.
This can cause serious damage.
How does the car heater work? When the heater in the car is turned
on, the heater system goes to work. Cold air is supplied from outside, which is
heated by the heater matrix . The heater matrix can heat this cold air using
the heater control valve . The heater control valve ensures that the right amount of warm
coolant is sent to the heater matrix, in order to get the air at the right
temperature. The heated air can then be blown into the interior by the blower motor . Based on the heater resistor , it can then be determined how much supply
of fresh or warm air should be blown into the interior. When you set the blower to
speed 1, less air will need to be supplied than when the blower is at speed 4. The
heater resistor is therefore controlled by you from the dashboard.
In addition
to the standard heater, you also have the option of installing a block heater .
A block heater can be operated with a remote control or app on the phone. With
a block heater you can both preheat and precool the car while it is not yet in
use. For example, the windows are already defrosted and the interior is nice
and warm as soon as you get into the car.
Car heater broken Is the heater of the car broken?
This can have several causes. This means that moisture or dirt can get into the
heater matrix. With a dirty or defective heater matrix, the supplied air
will no longer be properly heated. Another possible defect could be in the blower motor. This can ensure that the air is no longer properly distributed
throughout the car. Do you notice that the blower still works at, for example,
position 1 and 3, but not at position 2 and 4? Then this can indicate problems
with the heater resistor. Make sure that you identify and remedy a defect as
quickly as possible so that no unsafe situations can arise.
