Daytime running lights legislation

If you want to connect daytime running lights to your car, there are a number of rules that you should take into account. For example, only both headlamps may be fitted with daytime running lights. The daytime running light must be white in color and only pass through to the front of the car. The daytime running lights must be mounted at least 25 cm above the road surface, the maximum is 105 cm. In addition, it may be placed a maximum of 40 cm from the side of the car. When you install the daytime running lights in the headlight, you will generally have no problems with this. Finally, the daytime running lights should go out when sidelights or low beams are switched on.

Connecting daytime running lights

Do you want to install daytime running lights yourself? Then you can choose from two options. For example, you can choose to purchase an LED strip or to build in a separate light box.

The LED strips are flexible strips with multiple LED lights. These strips are waterproof and can easily be stuck in the headlight or around the headlight on the bumper. Because the LED strip is very flexible, you can place it nicely around the headlight. In addition, they are easy to size by simply cutting them to the desired length.

The separate daytime running light boxes are easy to mount in the bumper of the car. Because the light boxes are larger in size, they will stand out more. The advantage of the light box is that it has a greater light output.

For both options you need a daytime running light switch box when installing. The lighting is connected to this. This box ensures that the daytime running lights are switched off when the side lights or low beams are switched on.
