CV boot broken

By timely replacing a CV boot that is broken, you ensure that the CV joint remains in good condition and that no damage is caused to the drive shaft. During the APK inspection, attention will also be paid to the condition of the CV boot. The car will therefore be rejected with a worn CV boot.

You can recognize a worn or torn CV boot by regularly checking it for cracks or dryness. By shining a flashlight on the part, you can see whether the rubber is still flexible and free of cracks. Do you see small dryness cracks starting to form in the CV boot? Then we advise you to replace the cover as soon as possible to avoid further damage and high costs to other damaged parts.

Replacing CV boot

You can replace the CV boot yourself with sufficient technical insight. To carry out this job, you should take into account a time frame of about 3 to 4 hours. In order to be able to get to the boot, the drive shaft must first be dismantled. This means that the front wheel and the steering joints have to be removed. The wheel bearing hubs must also be removed before you can properly access the CV boot. Once the parts have been removed, make sure that the wheel bearing and drive shaft components are also checked for wear and replaced if necessary.

CV boot

The CV boot has an important task for the transmission of the car. This CV boot ensures that no dirt and moisture can reach the CV joint. The CV joint is a bowl with balls and a ball cage that ensure that the wheel is connected to the drive shaft. This connection ensures that the front wheels can be driven and the car can steer. Without the protection of the CV boot, the parts in the driveshaft will wear prematurely. Is the boot of your car worn or torn? Then make sure to replace it as soon as possible. Enter your number plate or select the car model to see which boot is suitable for your vehicle.
