With a linear spring, the spring always depresses a certain distance at a given weight, while with a progressive spring, this isn't the case. The spring becomes increasingly stiffer as it depresses. This results in better handling and comfort. The lowering springs are phosphated and epoxy-coated for long-term corrosion protection.
