Connecting rod
A connecting rod is the part that pushes the piston up and down in the cylinder. It has a large hole with which it is mounted onto the crankshaft. This hole is lined with connecting rod bearings, which ensure that there is lubrication between the rod and the crankshaft. This is important to make the parts move smoothly. Another advantage of the connecting rod bearings is that you can replace the bearing when worn, instead of the entire connecting rod.
