Cylinder liners sleeves

A cylinder liner (also called a cylinder sleeve) provides a smooth and durable surface for the piston to move up and down on. They play an important role in maintaining the integrity of the engine by providing proper lubrication between the piston and the cylinder wall. This minimises wear and prevents leakage of oil and combustion gases. During the combustion cycle, a lot of heat is generated (up to 2,000C). Cylinder liners help to dissipate this heat away from the piston and into the surroundings. This contributes to optimal engine performance and prevents overheating.
