Oil pressure switch

Does your oil pressure switch need replacing? It's important to replace it on time. When the oil pressure gets too low, the lubrication of various parts of the engine system is no longer sufficient, and metal rubs against metal. This ultimately leads to premature wear of the engine parts.

When starting the car, the oil pressure warning light always comes on briefly. This is a small light on the dashboard in the shape of a red oil can. If this light does not go out by itself, or if it lights up spontaneously every now and then, it is a signal that your oil pressure is not right.

You can recognise a faulty oil pressure switch by a number of signals.

When starting the engine, the oil pressure warning light does not come on at all.
There is a note in your car's fault memory relating to the oil pressure or the oil pressure switch.
When physically checking the oil pressure switch, you will find oil residue on the plug.

How do I replace an oil pressure switch myself?

It is possible to replace the switch yourself. First, you will need to find out where the oil pressure switch is located in your car. This may vary depending on your car make and model. For example, on the oil pump or on the cylinder head. You can replace it with the following steps:

Remove the protective cap.
Disconnect the cable from the connector.
Unscrew the sensor.
Screw in the new oil pressure switch.
Reconnect the cable to the connector.
Replace the protective cap.
