Torque converter

The torque converter is the clutch of cars with an automatic transmission. This part ensures that the automatic transmission can shift without you having to connect it. In addition, the torque converter ensures that the engine does not stall when it comes to a stop. However, with a manual transmission, you must depress the clutch when you stop the car. The converter on an automatic transmission uses transmission fluid to transfer power to the gearbox, eliminating the need for clutching and stalling the engine.

Torque converter defective

When the torque converter is faulty, you can notice it by a number of symptoms. A first symptom is the loss of acceleration. A faulty inverter can cause the car to slip out of gear. This may disrupt acceleration. This can cause shaky or bumpy rides. Another symptom is noticing a higher RPM. When the torque converter is damaged, it cannot seamlessly shift to the next gear. This will only happen at a much higher speed than you are used to. Another common symptom is contaminated transmission fluid. The inverter works on the basis of this liquid. If you notice that it is dirty or black in color, this could indicate a malfunction of the torque converter. The last symptom is noticing a buzzing or clicking sound. When the torque converter starts to make obvious noises, this is a clear indication to check the part for damage.

Be sure to identify and resolve a problem with the inverter as soon as possible. An inverter that gets damaged too much will make the car unable to drive at all. Even if you put the transmission in 'D' or 'R', the car will not do anything.

Torque converter

The torque converter is an important component in cars with an automatic transmission. This part ensures that the car can shift gears. The torque converter is the connection between the engine and the gearbox. In a manual transmission car, the clutch performs this function. Does the car start to shift jerkily or does the car not want to drive at all even though it is in 'D' or 'R'? This may indicate that the torque converter has failed. You can easily order a new inverter online at Winparts. Enter your number plate or select the car model and the correct parts will be displayed.
